So what's a "controller" anyway?

Great question! Controllers are just something that control another piece of gear, or software. They can be in the shape of keyboards, or just boxes with buttons, knobs and/or sliders. The main thing to know about any controller is that by definition controllers have NO sounds of their own. So even if they LOOK like a keyboard, they won't sound like a keyboard unless they are connected to something else. Confused? Don't be.
